fj your parents must have been proud of you. I spent part of my career as a recruiter and I know it's not easy getting accepted to any of the service academies.

I take it the upperclassman are running the show here?

How many people were in your graduating class?

Yeah, the folks were happy. Two sons went to college on Uncle Sam's dime. At the time, Kings Point was in the "Most Selective" category of American colleges. It has since fallen quite a bit... once the draft ended and the industry went belly-up.

Yes, the upperclassmen pretty much run the school, although every company has a Commissioned Company Officer, usually an ex-USN officer who transfers over to MARAD, to overseas the seniors. I was a "zombo" for the first two rotations but was given two stripes for the third rotation of my senior year, Platoon Commander. My older brother, Class of '73 had earned three, Company Commander. His "plebes" were my "seniors"... and I caught my share of flack because of it.

We started with 360 plebe candidates, 40-50 dropping out during the 6 week plebe "indoctrination" period with about 270 graduating four years later. Most were given Commissions in the USNR, but a few went active USN, USMC, USCG and USAF.
